Wynstones School is a Steiner Waldorf school in Gloucestershire, set on 11 acres in the Cotswolds. It takes pupils from pre-school through to university entrance and has an enrolment of around 275 students. ==History==
Wynstones was founded on the initiative of Margaret Bennell and Cora Nokes, two teachers from Crouch End, London, who wished to change their educational direction.〔(Margaret Bennell – Article by Magda Maier Biographien Dokumentation der Forschungstelle Kulturimpuls retrieved 2014.09.12 )〕 Before and soon after its opening in 1937, they were joined by several other teachers including some, like Bettina Mellinger, Rudi Lissau 〔(Rudi Lissau – Article by Marjatta van Boeschoten, Biographien Dokumentation der Forschungsstelle Kulturimpuls retrieved 2014.09.12 )〕 and Maria and Norbert Glas that had come to England after the closure of the German Waldorf schools by the Nazi government. The school grew rapidly over the War years, being in the countryside away from the bombing of the cities. Its hostel became a home to many children including those of the Camphill community co-workers in Scotland. The high school was established after the War and the land and new buildings surrounding the original manor house developed.〔‘’The Builders of Camphill: Lives and Destinies of the Founders’’ Edited by Friedwart Bock, Article by Christine Polyblank, Floris Books, 2004 ISBN 0863154425, 9780863154423〕
